Democamp Vancouver at WorkSpace

Submitted by Dane Brown on Thu, 05/17/2007 - 12:04.

Next Thursday, May 24th, we're hosting the first ever Democamp Vancouver here at WorkSpace.

Democamp is a really cool informal event where people get together to present (demo) things, followed by a group discussion.  It's open to any kind of demonstration.  We want to bring people together from different industries to encourage the cross-pollination of ideas.  Got an idea, product, service, or concept you'd like to share with others?  Sign yourself up!  This event is the first of it's kind in Vancouver and we're very excited about the potential.  Not everyone presents, so show up as an audience member and join in the discussion.  The more the merrier! If you plan to attend add yourself to the list at the bottom of this page.  Hope to see you there!

Coworking is "Wired"

Perhaps a good indication that coworking has totally hit the mainstream, Wired Magazine calls the concept "wired" in the May 2007 issue's Expired/Tired/Wired feature.  Link to the feature on the Wired website.

Inspiring Workplaces Flickr Group

Submitted by Dane Brown on Fri, 04/20/2007 - 15:52.

Bill found this flickr group this morning and we spent a few minutes looking through it.  We've seen some of the stuff before but there were a few standouts that were new to us, like the room where every surface is a whiteboard.

WorkSpace Meeting Cards Are Here

Submitted by Dane Brown on Thu, 03/22/2007 - 17:25.

This week we're expanding the WorkSpace offering by rolling out a new membership type.  It's intended for people who need to use WorkSpace meeting rooms multiple times per year, but not enough to merit a monthly membership.  We're calling it a meeting card and this is how it works:

For an annual fee of $75 you get a WorkSpace meeting card which entitles you to half price on our meeting room rates.  As a bonus, you'll also get $5 off our drop-in rates as well as access to member events.

The above information is also listed on our drop in page.  If you'd like to sign up for a meeting card just contact us or come on down to 21 Water St.

Hooray for wireless number portability!

Submitted by Dane Brown on Wed, 03/14/2007 - 20:29.

Starting today, if you live in a Canadian Metropolitan area, you can finally switch cellular providers and keep your current number!  This isn't something that the cell phone companies are going to announce because it's kind of their worst nightmare.  The bad news is that there are still only three carriers in Canada so competition is less than fierce.  At least we now have the freedom to switch to the carrier that we hate the least and still keep the same number.  Here's a link to the post on Engadget.

WorkSpace in BusinessWeek Online

Submitted by Dane Brown on Tue, 02/27/2007 - 12:54.

WorkSpace was featured in BusinessWeek's online slide show of coworking spaces.  I have to say that the photo of our space done by the talented Kris Krug stands out from the others on the list.
