Cash for your old gold crowns - Hidden values

Submitted by Florian Gabriel on Fri, 04/17/2009 - 15:22.

For one of my last online projects I've learned about Gold recycling. It seems that a lot of people have old gold crowns and porcelain bridges replaced and end up with bits and pieces of gold not knowing what do with them? Sending them to the Goldbox for recycling and get money back could be one way to go about it. This cash might be well needed,  especially if you have to cover your dentist expenses yourself.

Team building with a social element. That is Inspire Canada! Helping to build cabinets with corporate teams for a good cause, people are learning important skills such as team work, planning and transfer of knowledge.

Biz Pod Interactive
was the "fly on the wall" at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, taped this 4 hour event and turned it into a 6 minute video message. Our mission was to catch the most important learnings and provide an online video piece that shows the key moments of that day.

Mobile opportunities for web videos

Submitted by Florian Gabriel on Fri, 11/21/2008 - 15:21.

First there was a business card, then a business website and soon you will send a short video message to a mobile device featuring you and your business...

Wireless technology revolutionized the way people are using computers. In a traditional environment users come to a computer, which is connected with wires to other computers and networks. Obviously this makes it very difficult for people to move around and stay connected at the same time. Mobile computing however differentiates in two main ways: mobility and broad reach. Mobility for the fact that  the user who carries his mobile device is able to initiate real time contact with other systems from where ever they are and broad reach referring to the fact that once the users mobile device is switched on he can be reached instantly and with the built in GPS device even location tracked.

Meet the MINI Yaletown Maniac

Submitted by Florian Gabriel on Sun, 11/09/2008 - 13:25.

In our promotional video "Do you love your MINI?" we were searching for the MINI Yaletown Maniac. This all started about 10 weeks ago when we went to work with MINI Yaletown , the local MINI Cooper dealer, to create a video for their site. We brought up the idea of having a testimonial video from a MINI owner since we know that MINI Cooper drivers are VERY proud of their cars. So we created the MINI Yaletown Maniac contest where candidates would write in why they deserved the title of MINI Yaletown Maniac.

New look for affordable online video productions in Vancouver

Submitted by Florian Gabriel on Wed, 10/01/2008 - 13:17.

Biz Pod Interactive appears with a new look on the web and integrates its look and feel with the recently produced print brochure. The revisited website is easy to navigate and features an interesting showcase, showing three different forms of how to incorporate online videos within your organization.

Your chances to grab your customers, investors or staffs attention with a short online movie clip is much higher than other traditional forms of communicating.

I believe that watching online short videos on a computer is only the start. The trend to receive and watch short video clips on your iphone, blackberry or G1 will continue and grow rapidly. Higher bandwidths, better displays and fixed download amounts included in your subscription from you mobile provider will help this development.

With more and more people using smart phones and other portable video playing devices these videos are a very efficient way to reach your audience anytime and any where.

"The trend will continue", said one of the key decision makers from the biggest mobile provider in Switzerland, that I talked to while being here. "To carry the iphone", he said, "is a must have, something that our customer want and we just have to offer!"

And yes! I witnessed this with my own eyes in Switzerland: The usually very calm Swiss people lining up in front of the stores, trying to get one of these fancy devices and going nuts playing with their new toy.

Along with InspireCanada! for new corporate videos

We teamed up with Inspire Canada! for a video project for BC Hydro. The videos, which were for internal distribution, featured BC Hydro employees depicting their own Power Smart ideas.

For this key project a short video element was needed that had a memorable impact and kept reminding the participants of that event.

We had to be flexible to create this video project with a different target in mind and tailor that production so it would perfectly fit that specific audience.

It is great to see that affordable video productions combined with our video downloading society, companies are now seeing how our services can connect them to their audiences like never before.

Time to Get Personal

Submitted by Florian Gabriel on Tue, 06/24/2008 - 14:48.

Over the last few months I have read some pretty amazing articles, stats and heard stories from friends and family that really confirm my belief that we are on to something here at Biz Pod Interactive.

The adoption rate of corporate video podcasts are taking off. A friend of mine works at a clothing store and every 2 weeks she gets a video message from the CEO of the company which shows her the new merchandise and tells her about new company initiatives and promotions. Another friend works for the BC Forest Ministry and his son for the Alberta Ministry of Transportation and they too receive video messages from their superiors regarding the latest information about their organizations.

On the cover of WIRED magazine in March was the featured article by Clive Thompson entitled “The See-Through CEO”. It’s about how more and more CEOs are becoming more personal and honest with their staff and customers and how they’re using new communication tools to connect. Here is an excerpt…Radical forms of transparency are now the norm at startups - and even some Fortune 500 companies. It is a strange and abrupt reversal of corporate values. Not long ago, the only public statements a company ever made were professionally written press releases and the rare, stage-managed speech by the CEO. Now firms spill information in torrents, posting internal memos and strategy goals, letting everyone from the top dog to shop-floor workers blog publicly about what their firm is doing right - and wrong.

Educating with Video Podcasts

Submitted by Florian Gabriel on Wed, 05/28/2008 - 11:16.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

In other words a picture shows me at a glance what it takes dozens of pages of a book to expound.

In our series of Biz Pod Showcases we also explored Video Podcast as an educational tool. Looking at the three different ways people take in information - visual, auditive or tactile/kinesthetic - we found that Video Podcasts cover two out of the three different learning styles. Of course people don’t just learn one specific way but certainly there are preferences in which way each individual can be educated best. Adopting Video Podcast as an Educational or Training tool chances are high that your audience is more receptive than to a memo, newsletter or a voice message.

For our Showcase we featured Bill is the Head of HR of our Showcase Corporation. Professional further development is important and part of the company culture. To educate his staff about conflict management Bill uses a series of Video Messages. In this Video Messages Bill speaks about the O.T.F.D Method that helps in a practical way how to deal with conflict situations at the workplace
