WorkSpace B3 Scalability Workshop
October 21, 2008 - 9:00AM to 4:30PM
Many companies tackle scalability and performance when it is already too late to avoid embarrassingly bad performance or damaging downtime. Both should instead be part of your process from day one.

First Day at WorkSpace
Submitted by Tara Holfeld on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 19:47.
My dream of having a brick-walled office in Gastown with big huge windows, high ceilings and art on the walls has finally come true. Best of all, now I can work without the urge to sweep the floor first (the floor here is really clean!)
What I am working on:
I'm a part of a start-up called Qrimp, one of increasing numbers of start-ups creating products that will probably come to be known as "browser-based application development platforms". These tools replace traditional methods of creating software applications by putting the framework in a web browser and eliminating the need to write code.
(+ day job - office admin)
I look forward to spending many an evening and weekend here and meeting my fellow workspacers.

was a DELL laptop stolen?
Submitted by Nancy aka money... on Wed, 10/10/2007 - 09:49.
Was a Dell laptop one of the ones that was stolen? With an "iron maiden" (!) sticker on it (possibly added later)? If so, I may have seen it a couple days ago .... this guy in Crabb Park (and note well: I have a lot of compassion for the homeless/addicts, so don't want to reinforce any stereotypes here!!) was sitting in the little lodge-place on an office chair covered in plastic, using the electricity there (for concerts, usually) doing a bunch of stuff on the laptop. If he's just some poor guy between jobs, with his own computer, all the more power to him. If it sounds like a laptop that disappeared from Workspace, I have some identifying details about the guy.

Workspace, you make me swoon
Submitted by Nancy aka money... on Fri, 09/07/2007 - 09:25.
Just when I was completely satisfied by workspace (is fangirl a word?) they made me swoon even further. I'm pretty passionate about my gastown neighbourhood - I think if we wanted, we could model a way for those of us with money, and those of us without, to co-exist with care and respect.
Apparently last weekend, Workspace put some cash together, bought some pizza, and gave it away to the souls congregating at pigeon park -one of Vancouver's most hard-core areas of the addicted, homeless, mentally ill and marginalized.
Workspace, you make me swoon.

Just in case you're curious about the tunes we play on the iMac at the front counter... you can check out our playlists, favourite artists and much more on WorkSpace's last.fm page.
(Recommendations are always welcome.)

The Shamefully Forgotten WorkSpace Blog
Submitted by Megan Cole on Thu, 02/15/2007 - 12:04.
Oh WorkSpace, WorkSpace, where have you been??!
Err, rather, where have I been? I am embarrassed, ashamed and lost to the WorkSpace blog. May I please come back?
Where have I been? I have no idea. Where am I now?:
That'll pretty much tell all. Wanna be friends again?
